2017 SOAR SUMMIT
On May 27, 2017 at Simon Fraser University the annual SOAR Summit took place for youth to learn about leadership from various different speakers. This was a one day event full of engagement and workshops for local youth to become the leaders of tomorrow.
2016 SOAR SUMMIT
SOAR Philanthropic Society held the annual SOAR Summit in partnership with Simon Fraser University on April 2, 2016. Over 200 youth took part in the conference at the Surrey campus of Simon Fraser University. The summit consisted of a multitude of interactive workshops with community leaders, speakers, and athletes including representatives from various universities, law enforcement officers, TedTalks and more. Some of the speakers include graduates of Simon Fraser University, Queen’s University, Harvard Business School, Stanford University, and University of Cambridge. A volunteer fair also took place towards the end of the day for youth to connect with local organizations offering volunteering opportunities.
2015 SOAR SUMMIT
The SOAR Summit 2015 took place at Kwantlen Park Secondary School. The entire event was sold out with 100 high school students from across the Lower Mainland. Students had the opportunity to be educated on the significance of scholarships, careers, community involvement, mentorship, and leadership initiatives. The summit consisted of a multitude of interactive workshops with community leaders, speakers, and athletes including representatives from various universities, law enforcement officers and more. Some of the speakers included graduates of Simon Fraser University, Queen’s University, Harvard Business School, and Stanford University. Students also took part in a networking session with organizations across the Lower Mainland to discover new volunteering opportunities within their local communities.
2014 SOAR SUMMIT
On May 10, 2014 at Panorama Ridge Secondary the SOAR Conference took place. This event was the first conference SOAR Philanthropic Society had ever held opened for all high school students in the Lower Mainland. Students came to learn about the significance of scholarships, careers, community involvement, and leadership. Workshops were held at the conference by professionals from various different industries. Some of the professionals were from the law enforcement, TED Talks, youth community leaders, and many more. The conference was a one day event to teach students the potential they have within them to succeed in various different fields. SOAR Philanthropic Society will continue to hold the conference every year bigger, better, and stronger.
