2017 SOAR GALA
On November 18, 2017 at the Goldcorp Centre for the Arts a total of $31,000 in scholarship funds were given out to 31 local students. This marked the fifth annual event of recognizing young students with scholarship funds for attending post secondary.
2016 SOAR GALA
On November 27, 2016 at Surrey City Hall the annual SOAR Awards Night took place. It was a night to recognize the amazing young scholarship recipients and also celebrate the work of SOAR with the community. Over 200 guests from the local community attended the event, supporting youth creating a difference in our community. A total of $11,000 in scholarship funds was presented to 11 students from all across the Lower Mainland.
2015 SOAR GALA
On November 13, 2015 at Surrey City Hall, SOAR Philanthropic Society held their annual gala recognizing community leaders and the 2015 SOAR Scholarship recipients. A guest of 200 members joined the night to support SOAR’s cause. Kevin Dhir, Natalie Morrison, Ruvini Amarasekera, Kevin Pannu, and Savannah Way were the 2015 recipients. The night was full with amazing speakers, talented performers, and youth making a difference in the community. The 2015 platinum sponsors who supported SOAR organizing the event included Vancity Buzz, Simon Fraser University, Desjardins Financial Security, Decibel Entertainment, Alma Consulting Group, Kids Play, and Unified 4 Change.
2014 SOAR GALA
SOAR continues to hold their annual signature event of the year, the SOAR Banquet. On September 19, 2014 over 300 people attended the SOAR Banquet at Fraserview Banquet Hall in Vancouver, B.C. The event was a night full of entertainment, live fashion show with Vancouver’s top models, and an open dance floor with DJ Khanvict from Decibel Entertainment. Many corporate sponsors, along with community leaders, families, and friends came to support SOAR’s main objective of providing scholarships to students across the Lower Mainland. The community continues to support SOAR’s cause and this is an event every year that people would not want to miss. More pictures of the SOAR Banquet can be found on our official Facebook page.
2013 SOAR GALA
SOAR On September 20, 2013 the SOAR Banquet was held in Surrey, British Columbia at Bollywood Convention Centre. This event represented as SOAR's signature event of the year. The night consisted of community members, corporate sponsors, dance clubs, and guest speakers with inspiring speeches. A crowd of over 275 people joined for the SOAR Banquet. Guest speakers included Sam Thiara (Beedie School of Business at Simon Fraser University), Manny Padda (PM Search Partners), Kal Dosanjh (Law Enforcement), and Amrik Virk (Minister of Advanced Eduction - Liberal Party of British Columbia). The event had a portion of a networking session where the community members got the opportunity to meet other professionals and along with an entertainment night with the some of the top dance clubs in Vancouver. Funds collected through this project were put towards five scholarships SOAR will be presenting in 2014: Athletics and Sportsmanship, Academics, Community Leadership, Adversity, and lasty Visual and Performing Arts. Each scholarship is valued at $1000 that a student has chance to win. SOAR Philanthropic Society will be holding their signature event again in 2014.
